Have Your Say: Youth Justice System Review and Restorative Justice

In September 2015 Charlie Taylor was asked to lead a departmental review of the youth justice system for the Ministry of Justice. The review is examining evidence on: –          What works to prevent youth crime and rehabilitate young offenders, and how this is applied in practice; –          How the youth justice system can most effectively interact with wider services for children and young people; and –          Whether the current delivery models and governance arrangements remain fit for purpose and achieve value for money. An interim report was published in February 2016 and a final report is expected in Summer 2016. In response, the IARS Youth Advisory Board, in partnership with the 99% Campaign, has taken the initiative to respond to this open consultation to represent the views of young people. Specifically, our response will aim to provide insights on the use of restorative justice in the youth justice system and its potential to support prevention, diversion, rehabilitation and reintegration. As such, our Youth Advisory Board is interested in the experiences of young people when it comes to the youth justice system as well as restorative justice. We will also be conducting a survey to seek the insights of professionals working with young people in this context If you are a young person and you would like to take part in this initiative please fill out this short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/3QM2X92 If you are a professional working with young people in this context please fill out this short survey: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/FG5FX83 Filling out the survey will take not more than 5 minutes.   Your participation in this is entirely voluntary and confidential.
